With a story that could have been an attempt at Christianization of the Celtic goddess Brigid of Irish legends, St. Brigid was born to a Druid and Christian mother. She led a volatile childhood in which she was traded between parents, homes, and jobs until she was finally freed. She founded a monastery in Kildare with other women, and established many more communities throughout her lifetime.
Not only was she friends with St. Patrick and the worker of many incredible miracles, she also established a school for metalwork and illumination.
Many also see Brigid as a possible Queer figure who certainly stood up for women and was not afraid to do exactly what she set her mind to.
