I was recently able to travel to Greece (Athens and several islands) and the icons and other religious artwork I was able to see there was so inspiring. With our iconography class, I’ve been able to study more about icons recently, and nearly every technique and traditional practice was represented in the real, historical, and sometimes ancient icons I was able to view. Here you can enjoy images of some of those, as well as some of the contexts in which they are placed and several specifically Greek styles and practices that involve icons.
